Sanlam Prize for Youth Literature 2002 finalist

"Aspoesters & Hansworse" was a finalist for the Sanlam competition, but was pulled from the winners list halfway through completion of the book cover.

The title translates as "Cinderellas & Clowns", but this does not do the poetry of the Afrikaans title any justice.

It is the story of some teenagers growing up in Port Elizabeth under less than ideal circumstances and their subsequent experiences in the darker side of life.

We thought we'd include the unfinished cover here because it shows a good example of Konrad's life-long flirtation with the romance of the night – full moon, stark shadows and deep blue colours.
