This editorial cartoon refers to to a new trend of
offering buyers property on wine states with endless
free product as an incentive – the logical result can be seen
to the right.
One would think it would take an alcoholic to fall for that one,
but then again, wine farms ARE romantic ...
What you don't see in this cropped version of the cartoon, is a
road sign pointing to the estate saying "Dronkverdriet Wine Estate". The English translation for dronkverdriet is "alcoholic remorse", but that doesn't do the word justice
at all.
By the way, don't those two just look só ... colonial?
