Client: ARG Design

The design of their business card and logo was the first step in the development of the ARG Design corporate ID. ARG Design are architects, urban designers and town planners situated in Observatory, Cape Town. Their portfolio includes sustainable, community-driven projects.

At first the client suggested organic, esoteric symbols in green colours which, while accurately describing their philosophy, may have alienated them from the conservative (and sometimes superstitious!) South African market.

We decided to use blocks and squares to indicate the systematic nature and efficiency of their work. Earthy colours were used to suggest harmony with the environment. To show their aesthetic values, we used thin outlines for the rectangles, an italic, serif 'AR' for the logo and a solid straight 'G' to show reliability.

The business card was printed on recycled card and we went on to design a portfolio for them.
