During 2007, property research firm Rode & Associates launched a new research publication at a cocktail party at the V&A Waterfront, called Rode's Growth Points – a tool aimed at property investors. We designed the HTML e-mail for the announcement.
The great thing about e-mail design is that unlike most web pages, you can break the rules. For instance, you don't always have to use real text, because the e-mail isn't going to be indexed by Google etc. So, one can have absolute control over the design, by using any typefaces or layouts you wish to, then saving the result as an image or a set of images.
Of course, the downside to that is that if contact details have been turned into an image, the user can't copy and paste the details into his/her address book or calendar. In this case though, clicking on the "Yes, I'm interested" button would have Rode send another e-mail with all the necessary details in text.
